Slow Sessions
Looking for a Family Photographer in Hobart who will take the time to slow down and engage with you and your children with no pressure to pose?
I am offering Slow Sessions to families (including grandparents!), pregnant women and anyone wanting photos that are poetic and artful. My sessions take longer because I want to slow down, take away the pressure to perform, and engage with everyone present.
I know from my experience as a mum that children don't always feel comfortable posing or having time limits. This is why I mindfully engage with everyone and encourage play and connection, through a shared activity such as rock stacking, campfires, gardening, painting. When everyone feels safe and relaxed the true magic happens. And I am there to document it through the eyes of an artist.
Please have a look at my work and consider if my style suits your needs. I take close-up, intimate images and often focus on hands and little 'unnoticed' moments between people.
FAQ's
What should I expect on the day?
Please allow 1-2 hours for your Slow Session. It takes some time to relax into the session and I like to encourage play, focal activities and lots of talking and laughing.
I will bring a few props, such as shovels, bubbles, gymnast ribbons etc because I want everyone to have fun! Including me!
I will gently prompt group poses, such as family hugs, but I won't pressure your child to join in. Sometimes children need space and will come in their own time, sometimes we can find a different activity that they'll want to be a part of and then I can candidly snap away.
I can guide different poses to encourage connection, such as holding hands or positioning the parents, depending on what the session requires.
What should we wear?
I recommend solid colours with lots of texture! Textural knits, linens, layers etc come up beautifully in photos.
It's up to you if you want to dress in your best or choose a colour palette. You can be as casual or fancy as you want!
Please avoid large logos and slogans on clothing, as they draw the eye and take the focus away from the connection that we are capturing. But this is a guide only, there are no rules.
The main thing is to be comfortable and feel confident. You've got this!
How do I pay?
I will email you an invoice that will need to be paid by bank transfer before your gallery is delivered. Slow Sessions are AUD $350 and include the session plus 20 High Resolution digital images.
How (and when) will I receive my photos?
I will email you a link to your password protected gallery that you will be able to download. I use the platform Pixieset to deliver your galleries.
I will send your twenty photos in a mixture of colour and black and white, depending on my artistic interpretation of each image.
Your photos will be ready within 14 days of your session. It's usually pretty quick but please allow up to 14 days.
What about the weather?
It's very rare that the weather will cause a cancellation. I like to 'go with the flow' and shoot in any weather. We can usually find some shelter or umbrellas, just please dress appropriately for the conditions.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
I hope that both parties will have grace for sickness and unexpected personal emergencies. We can always discuss a re-schedule. In seasons of high-demand I may require a non-refundable deposit, but this will be made clear upon booking.
Please contact me through my Contact Page for any enquiries and to book your Slow Session. I can't wait to meet you!
